Lahiru Udara falls for 188 as Sri Lanka post 338/5 (Full Scorecard)

Sri Lanka opener Lahiru Udara narrowly missed out on a double century, falling for a superb 188 on the opening day of the second Test against the West Indies.

Udara’s marathon knock came off 248 deliveries and included 21 fours and five sixes, providing the foundation for Sri Lanka’s innings after they elected to bat first.

Kamindu Mendis also made a valuable contribution with 84 off 120 balls, adding a crucial partnership with Udara, while captain Dhananjaya de Silva chipped in with 33.

At the close of 83 overs, Sri Lanka were 338/5, with Sonal Dinusha unbeaten on 5 and Kusal Mendis yet to score.

Sri Lanka lost Nishan Madushka for 6 and Dinesh Chandimal for 1 before Udara and Kamindu steadied the innings with a century partnership. (Newswire)
