Fulfilling a long-felt need, land deeds were distributed among the people, who didn’t have land ownership in Sabaragamuwa Province.
Accordingly, land deeds were symbolically issued to 50 persons by Sabaragamuwa Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa at the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Auditorium.
A total of 1,517 land deeds and 1,883 licenses will be issued to the people by the Divisional Secretaries in the future in the Divisional Coordinating Committees.
Governor Kobbekaduwa stated that the government has allocated Rs. 3,885 million for economic and infrastructure development of the Sabaragamuwa Province.
Of this amount Rs. 3,885 million for the Ratnapura District and Rs. 3,862 million has already been allocated for the Kegalle District for the year 2022, of which 40 per cent is allocated for livelihood development.
Provincial Chief Secretary Sunil Jayalath, Provincial Secretary of Agriculture Anura Hemakumara, Secretary to the Governor H.D. Sisira, Provincial Land Commissioner Ayodhya Ranasinghe, Divisional Secretaries and other officers were also present on this occasion.
