A Ceylon Food Festival organized by Rush Ceylon Events, an events management firm based in UAE will be held in December at Zabeel Park, Dubai, from December 2-3 2023.
The event is supported by the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai, Sri Lankan Embassy in UAE and endorsed by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
The aim and vision of this food festival is to share authentic Sri Lankan cuisine with the international community in the UAE, highlighting the concept of culinary tourism, thereby promoting Sri Lankan cuisine among different countries and cultures,” said Managing Director RUSH events, Rasidue Lakmal.
“The vision of this food festival is to expand and introduce the unique Sri Lankan taste to the mass international community living in Dubai, UAE.”
The event includes a galore of entertainment items such as live bands, DJ music, kid’s games, filled with delicious food and fun. The festival will also include popular culinary veterans, influencers and food bloggers in order to make the occasion more effective.
“Sri Lankan cuisine has a unique taste and form of its own which differentiates from other food cultures and we see tremendous destination value in promoting them overseas,” said Chairman Sri Lankan Tourism Promotion Bureau Chalaka Gajabahu. He disclosed that the most popular Singapore crab, a flagship cuisine of Singapore, is provided by Sri Lanka and in addition to the world famous tea, Sri Lanka also supplies 80% of world with its cinnamon. FITZ Air as the airline partner and Power Hand Plantation are the key sponsors for the event.
The key objectives of this exclusive event is to promote Sri Lankan culinary tourism and identity, authentic Sri Lankan cuisine, increase participation and engagement to explore the country, disseminate the message of diversified food ranges, serve an assortment of delicious recipes and meals, spread knowledge about Sri Lankan spices, /authentic food varieties and cuisine, also strengthening the Sri Lankan community engagement. The festival includes activities such as live singing and music performances by leading vocalists, cultural performances by Chandana Wickramasinghe dance troupe, performances by Daddy’s band, Kids games and activities, non–food market fair, food promotion activities and many more. This will be an exciting opportunity for the foreign nationals to experience the culture, cuisine and the world renowned Sri Lankan hospitality, obviously making them ‘come back for more’. (SS)
