Lankan Boxers bag five medals in Malaysia

Sri Lankan boxers who participated in the 34th Youth Boxing Championship held in Malaysia returned to the country winning one gold, two silvers and two bronze medals. It is a remarkable achievement by the Lankan boxers to win five medals at this meet. The team arrived at Katunayake Airport on December 19 and received a warm welcome.

In this tournament, Pasidu Umayanga Mihiran, the captain of the Sri Lankan team, represented the Sri Lanka Police team won a gold medal.

Apart from this, Yasidu Premaratne of S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia and Heshan Jayasinghe of Sylvester College, Kandy had managed to win a silver medal each.

Varuna Bandara of Trinity College, Kandy and Salman Faris of the same school won a bronze medal each.

Sri Lanka Boxing Federation officials, Senior Superintendent of Police Aruna Katugampala and parents of these athletes came to Katunayake Airport to welcome them.
