Lankan Taekwondo players bag medals in Korea
Sri Lanka Athletes won three gold medals at the recently concluded Korean Ambassador’s Cup Taekwondo World Championship which organized by Ministry of Foreign affairs of the Republic of Korea.
Three army soldiers W.K Weerasinghe I. Lakshman and P.A Abeywardana won the gold medals at this meet while M.T.N Viranga won a silver medal. In addition four bronze medals won by Amaya Ranasinghe of Sri Lanka Youth, K.M.N.G Muhandiram of Victory Taekwondo Academy, Manujaya Ranasinghe of Sri Lanka Youth and H.J.P Hewage of Dharmapala Taekwondo Club).
The 208 athletes from 32 states participated in this event . The Grandmaster Ki Su Lee, Chairman of Technical committee of the Sri Lanka Taekwondo Federation said, “Even in difficult situations due to the re-proliferation of COVID-19, Sri Lankan Athletes continued to train and performed well at this meet and it wasa big success.
