Lanka’s first Wallapatta Museum unveiled in high-tech building at Ayagama, Ratnapura

Creating a landmark in the Sri Lankan plantation sector, Pintanna Plantations estate located at Ayagama, Ratnapura unveils Sri Lanka’s first-ever Wallapatta Museum in a high-tech four-storied multi-purpose building.

This building includes a state-of-the-art Pintanna Museum featuring a vast collection of Wallapatta, along with a Pintanna Theatre.

Created by famed cricketer, umpire and match referee, Kumara Dharmasena Pintanna Holdings, a pioneer in the Sri Lankan Agarwood plantation sector also coincided with the official unveiling of Pintanna’s commemorative stamp cover launch.

The inauguration of the newly constructed multi-purpose building, equipped with modern technology at Pintanna Estate, also saw its second Agarwood Investment Rewards scheme ‘Husma Pradana,’ launched to the investors.

For the first time the company also hopes to promote the Agarwood Investment Rewards scheme ‘Husma Pradana,’ to the global market, an official form of the company said. The total investments done towards this exceeds Rs. 3 billion.

In October 2020, Pintanna Plantations was established with a team of 21 dedicated members and today they have over 2,500 employees and more than 200,000 Agarwood plants in an area exceeding 1500 acres. In 2020 the company inaugurated its first and only factory dedicated to Agarwood products in Sri Lanka, targeting high-end exports as well under the brand ‘Silani’.

This resulted in the opening of branches in Saudi Arabia and UAE and ten more branches are to be opened in showrooms in 2024 in the Gulf where there is a huge demand for Agarwood-based perfumes, joss sticks to oil and many more products.

Agarwood plant exudes an extraordinary and rare aroma and its international trade value was estimated at $140 million by 2024, with expectations to reach $166.5 million by 2026. Dharmasena also laid the foundation stone of the ‘Unanduwa’ perfume factory on August 14, 2023, which is poised to craft luxury perfumes using local Wallapatta, thereby fortifying the local economy, generating foreign exchange and benefiting investors. These novel and first-time initiatives by a local entrepreneur will bring the high value of FOREX to the local market.
