Lasith Dassanayake was an excellent boxer
Lasith secured a Bronze Medal at the All Island LV Jayaweera Memorial Trophy in the year 2009 and a Silver Medal at the same tournament in the 33/35 Kgs. while becoming the all island Schoolboy Silver Medallist. In 2010 too he received Silver Medals at the T.B. Jayah Memorial and National School Games and Stubbs Shield in the 35/37 kgs. and became the Champion at these two tournaments.
In 2011 too he became the Champion at the same tournaments and the first Runner-up at the All Island Cadet Trophy in 43/45 kgs. In 2012 in the Junior South Asian Trials he secured the First Runner- up while the Championship was secured by S. Indunil of Horana Vidyalaya, WP. In 2013 and 2014 too he won the Silver Medals in the same tournaments and he became Sirasa Super Fighter in the 49/52 Kgs.
Lasith was awarded the Maroon Star which was awarded to most outstanding Sportsman under 17 in the year 2012 and he was a double colorsman in 2013/14.
He was consecutively awarded the Most superior ‘The Kingswood Star’ and selected as the Captain of the Boxing team from 2014 to 2015. He was awarded Sri Lanka Colours in Boxing in 2016 and selected to the Junior Olympic School,in Sri Lanka in 2020 and the Boxers, Isanka Sanjaya of Vidyartha, Nuwan Amarawansa of Peradeniya senior and Prasanga Dilshan of D.S.Senanayake Vidyalaya, Ampara were also selected to Particular School.
Lasith got through his GCE(AL) and entered the Engineering Faculty of the University of Peradeniya in 2017 and at present he is a third year student of the Engineering Faculty.
He is coaching Boxing at the University to the students who were interested in the Game and coaching the Boxers of National School of Pilawala, Kandy since the year 2017. His hobbies are singing and he is an up-and-coming Actor who is intending to continue his Boxing career till he is fit to do so.
