It’s a double bonanza for fans of Suriya. While the teaser and posters of his film with Pandiraj, Etharkkum Thunindhavan, is already going viral, the makers of his film with Tha Se Gnanavel have also released the title and the actor’s first-look in the film on the star actor’s birthday. The social drama has been titled Jai Bhim, and Suriya will be playing a lawyer in it!

Taking to social media, Suriya wrote, “Excited to share the First Look of #JaiBhim (sic).” The poster shows Suriya in lawyer’s attire, with a bunch of people from what can be interpreted as economically backward section of the society in the foreground.

Jai Bhim is a form of greeting used by followers of BR Ambedkar, a jurist, economist, politician and social reformer, who campaigned against social discrimination towards the untouchables. Going by the title and the first-look, it can safely be assumed that Suriya plays a lawyer who fights for the oppressed in the film.

Gnanavel, who had directed Kootathil Oruvan earlier, has completed the shoot of the film in and around Chennai recently. A couple of months ago, a picture of Suriya from the set of the film had surfaced online. The actor was sporting a white shirt and had the lawyer’s gown with him, giving rise to speculations that he’d be playing a lawyer in it. And now, it’s indeed official!
