Leadership won’t affect my batting, says Mendis

Leadership is nothing new for me and I haven’t any pressure to continue my game and very happy to play as captain said Kusal Mendis at the pre match press conference held at Lucknow Ekana Cricket Stadium yesterday.

I led at the practice game and played well as a batter and no need to change my batting style said Mendis who takes over leadership from Dasun Shanaka.

My batting has been good throughout the series which give me big boost.We have not finalised the team and it will be decided after final training session.

I have confidence that our batters and bowlers can do their best. The way we played against South Africa and Pakistan we can continue our form. We have experienced players to do well against Australia.

Both Australia and Sri Lanka had back to back defeats but the way we played against opponents we can beat Australia.

I can play my usual innings with confidence and never made any technical changes added Mendis.

Due to cramps I couldn’t field last game after my good innings and disappointed to be out from the field. However I want to put in full effort for the team’s success, said Mendis.
