Lecturer held for brutally beating adopted daughter

A lecturer at the Faculty of Technology of Ruhuna University was arrested yesterday afternoon (18) on the charges of brutally beating his five-year-old adopted daughter, according to the Matara Division Police Children and Women’s Bureau.

Police arrested the suspect following information given by the public and the child has been hospitalized.

A senior Police officer said that the suspect lecturer was arrested by the Police based on the medical reports of the girl who is receiving treatment at the Matara General Hospital, the investigations conducted since the information was received about the alleged beating, and the statements obtained from the girl. The suspect is to be produced in Court.
