Legal aid mobile service in Nuwara Eliya and Matale today and tomorrow
A special programme to resolve legal issues relating to existing documents and provide legal relief to the people of Central Province (CP) will be held through a special mobile service in the Nuwara Eliya and Matale districts on December 16 and 17.
Under this programme of solving legal issues related to documents and providing other necessary legal relief to the people of the Central Province, the Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reform has organized several activities to be held on the 16th and 17th of December 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. under the chairmanship of Justice, Prisons Affairs and Constitutional Reform Minister Dr. Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, PC through the Nuwara Eliya and Matale District Special Mobile Service.
The Nuwara Eliya District Mobile Service will be held on December 16 at the Nuwara Eliya Municipal Council premises. Organized by the Office for National Unity and Reconciliation in conjunction with the Nuwara Eliya District Mobile Service Programme, the Sanhidiyava programme organized for the children and youth of Nuwara Eliya district estates is scheduled to be held at Talawakale Estate, Nuwara Eliya.
Arrangements have also been made to hold the Matale District Mobile Service on December 17 at the Christ Church College, Matale premises. A programme for the formation and awareness of the Matale District Sanhidiyava Committee will be held at the District Secretariat Auditorium.
Solving issues related to registration of births, marriages and deaths and obtaining such documents, obtaining national identity cards, making amendments, and providing services related to issuing a second copy for lost identity cards, raising awareness about special land-related conciliation boards, completing the gaps in the files of the people who have applied for reparation, conducting investigations on missing persons and completing the necessary documents related to those investigations, conducting awareness programmes about mediation and providing legal advice and holding legal clinics are also conducted through this special mobile service.
Government officials from the Ministry of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms, Department of Registration of Persons, Department of the Registrar General, Office of Reparation, Office for Missing Persons, Office for National Unity and Reconciliation, Conciliation Commission and Legal Aids Commission will participate for this special mobile service.
