LG candidate who attacked kidney patient arrested

Nawalapitiya Nawa Kuruduwatta Police arrested a person who had given nominations for the Local Government Election from NPP for the Ganga Ihala Pradeshiya Sabha in connection with an incident where he allegedly assaulted a person who was undergoing a kidney transplant surgery.

Supun Nalaka Chandrasiri, who was attacked by the suspect, was admitted to the Kurunduwatta Hospital in critical condition and then was transferred to the Colombo National Hospital for further treatment. According to the Police, the suspect had fled after the attack. Police arrested him in the Meriwatta area while coming from the Nawalapitiya area.Police investigations have revealed that the attack was done due to a family dispute.
