Lithuanian Kaunas thrash SL Navy 102-46

The Lithuanian Kaunas team defeated Sri Lanka Navy Basketball team in the men’s category by 102-46 in the Avant Super Cup Basketball Championship organized by Colombo District Basketball Association.

The Lithuanian Kaunas posed a serious threat to the Sri Lankan sailors from the start, leading 51-31 at the end of the first half. Lithuania currently stands on world’s eight position while some of Kaunas team players represent their National team.

They stand out as the tallest and strongest. The Old Benz team beat Maroons by 79-50 while the Buffaloes thrashed the Nets Basketball team with a 90- 69 points at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo on Saturday (26). The Avant Garde Basketball team recorded a massive win against Sri Lanka Air Force by 106-43 while Nugegoda Kagars obtained a victory over Old Senanayakians by 61-49.

The Avant Garde Group organized the event with the main objective being develop the sport in the country and to build up the sports economy.

All matches will be played at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium and the Royal College Indoor Stadium, Colombo while the finals are scheduled to be held on April 2.
