Litro comes out of debt, becomes financially strong – Chairman

Litro Gas Lanka Ltd is making profit now and the company does not have a cent of debt at the moment, Litro Gas Chairman Muditha Peiris said.

As a result of becoming financially strong, Litro Gas Lanka Ltd has contributed Rs 1.5 billion to the Treasury as dividends on Thursday.

According to the Chairman, the company had paid dividends to the government in 2019 when he was previously employed by Litro Gas Lanka Ltd and after that after nearly four year period the company could pay Rs.1.5 billion to the Treasury through the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, which is the stakeholder. He said that further concessions will be given to Litro Gas consumers and this money will be given at a time when the government needs money. According to him these dividends can be considered as another benefit that Litro Gas Company gives to the people of the country.

There was a debt of about fourteen billion rupees when Peiris assumed duties as Litro Chairman this time. “After paying that debt, the company could pay a dividend to the government for the first time,” he added.
