Live bullet found in woman’s bag at Maligawa

Police yesterday found a live T-56 bullet inside the bag of a woman who came to pay homage to the Sri Dalada Maligawa.

The woman had been subsequently arrested by police officers at the Dalada Maligawa.

The live bullet was found in the woman’s bag when the alarm went off while the woman was going through the electronic security scanner door.

The woman’s husband is a former police officer who died about five years ago, police said.

Investigations have revealed that the woman had been residing in the Wattegama area and had moved to the Galle area after her husband’s death.

The woman who was arrested by the Police personnel at Dalada Maligawa has been handed over to the Kandy Police Headquarters for further investigations.
