Livingstone and Hasaranga most expensive IPL overseas players
England batsman Liam Livingstone became the most expensive overseas player in IPL auction 2022 with bagging INR 1,175 lakhs.Punjab Kings picked the explosive English batsman for the massive amount in day 2 yesterday.
Earlier on Saturday, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga was the most expensive overseas player in IPL auction 2022 with bagging INR 1,075 lakhs for Royal challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Wanindu Hasaranga became the first overseas player to cross 10cr in IPL 2022 Mega Auction on first day while England’s Liam Livingstone was the second overseas player to pass that mark yesterday.
Hasaranga joined RCB for the second part of the IPL last season but will be hoping to get a full season in this time around. According to the schedule released by Sri Lanka Cricket earlier this year, Sri Lanka are not set to have any limited overs fixtures during the IPL, which is scheduled to be played from the 2nd of April to the 3rd of June 2022.
Meanwhile Sri Lankan mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana has been sold in IPL auction for INR 70 lakhs and Chennai Super kings picked him. The fast bowler Dushmatha Chameera also has been sold for INR 200 lakhs in IPL auction. New IPL team Lucknow Super Giants picked the Sri Lankan fast bowler ahead of Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Sri Lanka’s promising all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne has been sold in IPL auction for INR 50 lacks and Kolkata Knight Riders picked him.
