Lorry overturns at Southern Expressway entrance

Expressway Traffic Police stated that an accident occurred on Saturday (26) when a lorry overturned near the entrance to the Southern Expressway.

Due to this accident, there was a traffic jam for about seven kilometres from Kottawa to Matara.

Police say that when the lorry was coming to Bandaragama to enter the entrance and exit through Galanigama, the right rear tyre exploded and the lorry overturned on the road.

At the time, there was a heavy traffic jam as the vehicles going towards Matara could not move. The police moved the overturned lorry to one lane and provided the necessary facilities for the traffic.

Neither the lorry driver nor the helper was injured in the accident, but the lorry sustained damage.

Due to this accident, traffic flow was disrupted for more than two hours.
