Mahasen Samarakoon outstanding soccer player

At the tournament organized by the Nawalanka Sports Club, he scored 11 goals during the soccer tournament and he used both feet effectively and was able to play in any position. His soccer coaches were Piyatissa Samarakoon, his late father who was a talented soccer coach and E. Wijewardena, both Playground Instructors of the Kandy Municipality.

Piyatissa Samarakoon, the former National Soccer Player was the shortest player in the soccer team and due to his influence Mahasen became a versatile soccer player and he is also a brilliant student who is among the best 10 out of 55 students in the class and his favourite subject is Science.

At present Mahasen is involved in many soccer matches in Kandy but as his father is no more he has a lot of shortcomings in his Soccer career. Furthermore the game of soccer is not very popular at present and he does not get much opportunity to show his talent but with the encouragement of his mother he Is trying his best to improve the game of soccer

He is interested in Athletics too which is helping him in his game of soccer and his intention is to continue playing soccer and become an International soccer player. His favourite soccer Player is none other than Lionel Messi of Argentina, an International soccer Player. His ambition is to become a versatile soccer coach like his father as Piyatissa was an International soccer coach who was involved in coaching soccer abroad mostly in Sweden.

Mahasen is grateful to his late father as well as E.Wijewardena ,a talented soccer coach, the Principal of Dharmaraja College and his mother, Nelum who is encouraging him to improve his soccer career and he wants to be a Scientist while improving his skills in soccer.
