Now all the suspects involved in the incident have been taken into police custody, Kandy SSP Chamil Ratnayake said. Earlier Police had found some heroin, five swords and a machete in the arrested suspects’ possession.
The van that was allegedly used to abduct the two persons was also found by the police in the Kengalla area on June 27. The millionaire Kapuwa, the main suspect in the group, released a video on his Facebook account on Monday (30) stating that he was a child of God and had never been involved in such a crime.
The two residents of Polgolla and Udabowala in Kandy who were abducted and tortured by the group are currently receiving treatment at Ward 11 of the Kandy National Hospital.
Kandy SSP Chamil Ratnayake said that all the nine suspects involved in the incident have been arrested and will be produced before court requesting that they be produced for an identification parade.
