Major fire at Ja-Ela Industrial Zone factory doused

A fire broke out in a warehouse of Smart Trading Asia Plastic Goods Manufacturing Company in the Ja-Ela Industrial Zone yesterday (24).

Fire trucks and firefighters from Colombo, Negombo, and Gampaha fire stations arrived to control the fire and prevent the fire from spreading to the surrounding factories.

According to Ja-Ela Police, there has been extensive property damage from the fire.

The cause of the fire has not yet been unveiled yet.

Locals drew attention to the fact that although many factories were in the industrial zone, no organization to handle emergencies like fires or natural disasters was stationed there.

Therefore, in case of an emergency it takes considerable time for the fire fighting units to reach the zone.
