Major Gen. Mahesh creates another record

Major Gen. Mahesh Abeyratne created a new meet record of 32.18 metres distance in 50-54 age category hammer throw event at the recently concluded Veterance Athletic Meet worked off at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. The previous record of 29.90 metres was established in 2017. With this victory Abeyratne will qualify for the 22nd Asian Veterans Athletic Meet which is to be held in China.

Abeyratne is also the record holder for 45 age category hammer throw event which he set up the record in 2014. He is an old boy of Wennappuwa St. Joseph Vaz College. He also serves as the senior vice president of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and SL Army Volleyball Committee chairman.
