School under 10, 11 and 13 Athletic Champion, Thrice School representative at the John Tarbet Meets . School Best Athlete Elle and Volleyball player Maleesha Umashi de Alwis has brought honour and immense glory to her alma mater Dhammissara Maha Vidyalaya Nattandiya with her deeds in the field of Athletics, Volleyball, Elle, Netball and Cricket.

Maleesha was bom on January 11 2003 and hails from Horagolla Marawila was admitted to the school in 2008. In 2010 her Parents Nihal De Silva and Nelka Sriyakanthi Femando handed over her to their school athletic Coach Nandana Tissera and her first attempt was in the same year at the school Inter House Sports Meet and she came third in the 30 metre event and received colours and in the following year she won the Long Jump 75 and 4×50 metre races and came second in 50 metres and her house team came third in Volleyball and she was adjudged the under 10 Champion and received colours

At the John Tarbet Meet held in Embilipitiya in the under 12 event she received a Merit in 80 meters and in the following year too she was the champion in the under 13 age group winning Long Jump and 100 metres and carried away the Best Athlete Award and at the Divisional meet she came first in Long Jump and 4×100 and in the following year they were third in 4×100 metres and at the Open Divisional Revenue Officer’s Meet Nattandiya |she/came 4×100 first, 200 and 4×100 second and third in 100 metres and in the 2017 house meet she came second in 200 and 4×400 and first in 4×100 and came third in the Cricket Competition and in the same year at the divisional came third in Long Jump and at John Tar bet Meet held at Embilipitiya she got a Merit for under 15 Long Jump event and in 2018 in the school meet under 17 events she won Long Jump and 200 metres at the Divisional first in Long Jump and second in 4×100 and at the Zonal 4×100 third and at the DRO Open Meet second in 4×100 and third in Long Jump and 4×400 and her other team mates in the relay event were Sandali Mihisarani, Chamathka Nethmini and Minoli De Alwis and finally at the 2020 house meet she came first in 100 second in Long Jump and third in 200 metres and 4×100 metres

In 2020 National Sports Festival Open Meet of Puttalam District she came second in 4×400 metres and third in 4×100 and at the DRO Open Meet first in 4×100 second in Long Jump and 200 and third in 100 metres and in 2021 National Youth Open Festival Meet first in Long Jump and 2022 Zonal Meet won Long Jump 4×100 and 4×400 second place in the under 20 age group and in the Provincial meet 4×400 metres first and second in Long Jump and 4×100 metres and the DRO Open Meet Long Jump and 4×100 metres first and second in 4×400 metres and at the Youth Festival Open Meet 4×100 metres and 400 metres second and in the Provincial 4×100 and 4×400 second and now she has qualified for the All Island meet which will be held in November 2022.
