Maliyadeva Balika, Kurunegala champions of Girls under 14 Football Tourney

Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala emerged as champions, recording a comfortable 6 goals to nil win against Vileyaya MV, Polonnaruwa in the final of the Girls undef 14 Samaposha all Island football Championship 2023, sponsored by Samaposha, organised and conducted by the Sri-Lanka Schools Football Association, played at the Race Course ground, Reid Avenue, Colombo-07 on July 30 (Sunday).

The under 14 games Girls final playing time schedule is 40 minutes of play, the first and the second half of 20 minutes each will be 10 minutes of play and a break of 1 minute and continue with another 10 minutes of play and in the second half too will be the same with a 2 minutes break given at half time.

In the first 10 minutes of play of the first half, N.D. Induma Sandamini Dissanayake scored the 1st goal in the 6th minute to give Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala a 1 nil lead and W.A Sanuji Warnapriya scored the 2nd goal in the 3rd minute of the second 10 minutes of play to give them a 2 nil lead in the half time.In the second half of the first 10 minutes of play, Skipper S.V. Abimani R. Konara scored the 3rd goal in the 3rd minute, followed by 3 more goals by their star play maker and best player, N.D. Induma Sandamini Dissanayake in the 05th and 09th minute of the first 10 minutes of second half and the 06th minute of the second 10 minutes of the second half to give Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala a resounding win.

Weerakkody, playing a major role to maintain their name in Girls football, Teacher in Charge, Nadeera Mahanama, being with them and encouraging these young lasses at this tournament along with the support of the parents, all credit has to go their Coach, S.Sathyaras, doing a wonderful job with his training skills , led these young lasses to win this under 14 Girls Championship for the year 2023.
