Man abducted, assaulted for halting affair by girl’s brother, father in Hasalaka

A 23 year old University student had been abducted by a man in Hasalaka after the student had terminated his love affair with the man’s sister.

This incident had happened on December 15 and Police received a complaint in this regard on Saturday. The student studying at the Ruhunu University, who is a resident of Hasalaka had come home for the vacation.

Police said that when the student got down at the Hasalaka bus stand he was abducted by the girl’s brother with whom he was having a romantic relationship.

He had been forcibly taken in a car to his former girlfriend’s house. According to the complaint lodged with Police the student had been beaten by his abductor while inquiring into why he had stopped the affair with his sister. The student had been injured in the assault. Police investigations have revealed that the girl’s father was also involved in the attack.

Police say that after the attack, the brother and father took the two mobile phones owned by the student had taken him in the car and dropped him near the town.

Hasalaka Police, who conducted investigations, arrested the 44-year-old father, who is a motor mechanic. Police said that the brother too will be arrested.
