Man arrested for sexually abusing a ten-year-old schoolgirl

Hurigaswewa Police said that a person was arrested on Thursday (29th) for sexually abusing a ten-year-old schoolgirl who was coming to his home to play with his two ten-year-old boys.

A 38-year-old man who resided near the girl’s house was arrested.

According to a complaint received by the Police Emergency Unit (119) stating that the suspect has been sexually abusing the girl for some time and that the Principal of the school where the girl studies was aware about the situation.

Police said that the suspect was arrested after conducting investigations.

Police also recorded a statement from the victim and her mother too. It has been revealed that the suspect has been seriously abusing the girl for about a year.

The suspect was to be produced before Court yesterday. The girl in question was also to be produced before Judicial Medical Officer.
