Man arrested with live bullet in bag

A person who tried to enter Perahera Road with a T-56 live bullet in his bag was arrested by Police officers engaged in special police duties Monday (21) at around 5 pm. Police investigations have revealed that the suspect is 60 years old resident of Madamahanuwara who works at a furniture shop in the Moratuwa area.

The suspect told Police that he picked up this bullet lying on the road in the Palai area when he was transporting furniture from Moratuwa to Jaffna in 2010.

Police said the suspect had come to Kandy to admit his wife to the Kandy hospital due to illness. Kandy police are conducting further investigations
