Man arrested with revolver

The Batapola Police on Tuesday arrested a suspect with a 09 mm revolver. Police believe he was planning to commit a crime.

Police said that they searched the house known as Namal Sevana in Ilapola Sadamulla and found the firearm.

The arrested suspect is a 61-year-old man who was once involved in the illicit liquor trade.

Police also said that a child of this person was arrested for a murder and is currently out on bail. Police say that there has been a longstanding dispute between two groups in the Batapola area and several people have died due to that dispute.
