Man assaulted in Mankulam by lover and friends

Mankulam Police said a man who came to Mankulam from Peduruthuduwa to meet a woman whom he met while in Canada and had a relationship with was attacked by her together with a group tying him on to a tree and robbing him of his money.

The attack took place on August 13 at around 10.30 pm. Mankulam police who conducted investigations in this regard arrested the woman and a person involved in the attack.

The victim is 48. Police said this person is married and has children and that he has been working in Canada for sometime and came to the country about two years ago.

While in Canada, the man had a relationship with a 43-year-old woman, a resident of Mankulam Panichchankulam. Police said that she is also married having children.

A senior police officer mentioned that the woman had suddenly stopped the relationship with this person and when he went to her house to inquire about it, the beating took place.

Investigations revealed that a group of four including the woman’s brother were involved in the attack. Police said the woman’s brother and the rest of the group are hiding and investigations are underway to arrest them.

The person who was assaulted complained to the police and stated that the assailants robbed him of Rs.50,000, 300 Canadian dollars and his mobile phone.
