Man disguised as priest robs Nallur Kovil till
A till at the Nallur Veeramakali Kovil in Jaffna had been broken on August 31, by a person disguised as the chief priest of that kovil and the money stolen.
The actual Poosari (Chief Priest) of the kovil had lodged a complaint with the police and they had commenced investigations into the incident.
When police officers viewed footage of security cameras fixed in houses in the vicinity of the kovil, it had been observed that a person masquerading as the Poosari of the kovil had broken the till and taken away the money.
There is no possibility of calculating the amount of money that would have been in the till which was broken and the cash inside taken, and the Poosari has told the police that since there is a festival being held in the kovil these days, there should be more than two hundred thousand rupees in the till. Jaffna Police are conducting investigations into this theft.
