Man distributing drugs in food delivery bag arrested in Panadura
The Police Special Task Force, which exposed a drug trafficking racket, on Saturday arrested a suspect together with 10 kilos of Kerala Ganja and Rs.100,000 earned through drug dealing.
The suspect had been pretending to be an employee of a well-known food delivery service in the country and had been transporting drugs inside a food delivery container.
During investigations it has been revealed that this suspect is connected to the drug distribution network of an underworld shooter named ‘Kosgoda Rana’ who is hiding in Dubai. ‘Kosgoda Rana’ is connected to the drug network of ‘Kudu Salindu’ and ‘Harak Kata’, who were brought to Sri Lanka recently from Madagascar.
‘Panadure Supun’ had been taken into custody when he was on his way to distribute a stock of Kerala ganja according to instructions received from Dubai under the guise of delivering food. The Police Special Task Force said that he is a main member who is involved in the drugs network of this country and financial affairs.
The suspect aged 33 was arrested at Solomon Mawatha on the Panadura-Horana Road. Police said he had 10 kilograms and 520 grams of heroin in his possession.
The Police Special Task Force had taken into custody the motorcycle bearing number BDO-4287 which had been used to transport Ganja.
During the three-year tenure of the current STF Commandant, DIG Waruna Jayasundera, 217 kilos 328 grams of heroin, 47 kilos 47 grams of Ice, 4722 kilos 575 grams Ganja have been taken into custody with the intervention of the Police Special Task Force. Also, many arrests have been made when certain pharmaceuticals used for intoxication were being sold as drugs. The media unit of the Police Special Task Force said that during these operations 70,461 intoxicating tablets and 11023 capsules sold illegally have been taken into custody.
