Man injured in Makavita shooting

A person who was seriously injured in a shooting near Siyambalapitiya Primary School in Makavita, Gampaha, was been admitted to the Gampaha Hospital yesterday.

Dimuthu Subhash (42), a resident of Arachchiwatte in Kotugoda was injured in the incident.  

The police say there was four bullet wounds in his body and that the shooting was done with a 9 mm type pistol.

The injured person had come to the Siyambalapitiya Primary School yesterday (15) with his wife and child to take his eldest child studying in the school home.

The police say that the wife got off the motorcycle with the child in her hand and went near the school gate and two people who came on a motorcycle had shot Subhash at that moment.

Police have also received information that the person who was shot has had connections with Kehelbaddara Padme, an underworld figure currently staying in Dubai.

The police have also received information that the shooting was carried out by the team of an underworld leader named Makilangamuwe Sanjeeva. The police are investigating the incident.
