Man killed, woman injured in Seeduwa shooting

Two individuals on a motorbike had opened fire killing one person and injuring a woman at the Galigan Eliya Junction in Seeduwa last morning.

The deceased is 39-year-old Gihan Kanchana Perera of Raddolugama, who was running a soil supplying business.He is said to be a close associate of underworld figure Gampaha Padme who is currently in Dubai and also of underworld figure known as ‘Pas Podda’ who was shot dead in July this year.

According to Police, the shooting had taken place near a small food stall run by a woman, when the victim had arrived there to buy porridge.

The shop owner is the woman who was injured in the incident. Both of them were admitted to the Ragama Hospital. The gunmen had fired 11 ammos at the victims.Police sources revealed that the deceased had earlier been remanded in connection with a murder case that took place in 2018.

“The rivalry between two parties involved in the soil business in the Gampaha, Kehelbaddara and Kotugoda areas is the cause for the murder,” Police suspect. Seeduwa Police are conducting investigations.
