Man knocked down at Kollupitiya Church park

An employee of a private hospital died Saturday morning (21) after being hit by a jeep which transported the bride for a wedding ceremony held at a church in Kollupitiya.

The deceased is a 63-year-old man, a resident of Dematagoda.

Kollupitiya Police say that the accident took place near St. Andrew’s Church car park in Kollupitiya.

The accident took place when the jeep carrying the bride to the wedding ceremony came to the car park near the wedding hall to park the vehicle after dropping the bride at the Church.

Police have arrested the driver of the jeep, a 22-year-old from Aranayaka.
