Man roaming around Galle Face remanded

The Fort Police arrested an individual on Monday who was roaming around the Galle Face area posing  as an officer of the Police Intelligence Division based on the information received from Army Intelligence Division officers.

The Fort Police said that a person named Nandana Jayashantha (44), a resident of Weerasekara Mawatha, Pepiliyana, Boralesgamuwa was arrested. It has been revealed that this person does not have a permanent source of income or a job. No information has been discovered that this suspect has engaged in money fraud or other crimes by deceiving people by pretending to be an intelligence officer. A senior police officer said that the fact that this person is posing as an intelligence officer is problematic and that investigations will be conducted.

Police stated that the suspect was remanded until next Friday.
