Man who misused President’s flag arrested after surrendering

The Police had arrested the suspect who had stolen the President’s official flag and used it as a bed sheet to sleep on.

The suspect had surrendered to the Dam Street Police Station and was taken into custody by the Police.

The Police said that the suspect has been identified as Udeni Kaluthanthri, a Port Authority Union leader.

According to the Wellavidiya Police, the man had allegedly entered the President’s House illegally on July 9 and taken the official flag of the President. The suspect is reportedly a

54-year-old resident of Malabe and had surrendered to the Police through a lawyer. The suspect was produced in Court yesterday.
