Man who sold four acres on fake papers arrested
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested a person who had prepared a fake power of attorney for a land of over four acres
in Pannala area and sold it for Rs.16 million on Monday (13).
The CID stated that a 72-year-old man, a resident of Marasinghegoda Road, Hokandara East in Athurugiriya was arrested.
The Police Media Spokesman’s Office stated that this person had prepared a fake power of attorney for the land and taken over the land for himself and then engaged in the fraud. A complaint was submitted to the CID regarding this fraud in 2017. The Criminal Investigation Department had conducted investigations for six years and then arrested the suspect.
The Police Media Spokesman’s Office stated further that the suspect was released on two surety bails of Rs.500,000 and cash bail of Rs.10,000 after being produced before the Kurunegala Magistrate’s Court.
