Man who won gambling at funeral house waylaid, Rs. 340,000 snatched

The Karandeniya Police have launched an investigation to arrest two persons who stole Rs.340,000 from a person who  was travelling on a motorcycle with the money won by gambling at a funeral house.

The police said that the person who has been robbed is a 42- year-old resident of Dalukkande, Karandeniya, Egodawela. This person is engaged in trading.Police said that he had gone to a funeral house at night on April 3. A group of people at the funeral house had been gambling playing cards and spending the night there.The police said that this person had played

cards for money, there, until dawn.

The police said that while he was riding his motorcycle from the funeral house to his home with the money he had won there, he had been attacked and robbed by two people who blocked the road at Karandeniya Gorakaduwa area. Although he had fought with the two robbers, he had been unable to hold on to the money.

The person who was robbed has identified two people who were playing cards, as the two robbers.Since they have been identified by name, the Karandeniya police stated that investigations are underway to arrest them.
