Maneth Muthsana the athletic and cricket star from Homagama

Eighteen year old all round Cricketer, Right hand opening bat, Right arm medium pace bowler who opens the attack, Man of the Match and Best Batsman in the 2022 Big Match, Safe fielder in any position, John Tarbet Athlete and Division Three Daily News Trophy Cricketer Munasinghe Arachchige Maneth Muthsana has brought honour and immense glory to his two schools Presidents College Maharagama and Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya Homagama with his deeds in the field of sports.

Maneth who hails from Rattanapitiya Maharagama was born on 26 th May 2004 and was admitted initially to Presidents College Maharagama in 2010 when M Vasantha was at the helm of the school . When he was in Grade One he took part in the Inter House Sports Meet and his events were 50 and 75 metres and Long Jump and he won places in these three events up to grade five.

In the meantime he passed the grade five Scholarship Exam with flying colours and was admitted to Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya Homagama in 2015 and there too he continued to do athletics up to 2018 and in 2016 he did 100 and 200 metres and Long Jump at the Junior Tarbet Meet. With the changing of his school he commenced practices under Sanjaya Weerasinghe and he was selected to the under 13 team and in his first year he scored 110 runs and claimed 12 wickets and in his second year he got 223 runs with three fifties and 24 wickets with a five wicket haul.

Year 2018 was his first year in the under 15 he scored 128 runs and grabbed ten scalps and in his last year he got 108 runs and 13 wickets in five outings. There was no under 17 tournament in 2020 due to Coronavirus and in his second year he played in four matches and bagged nine wickets.

His first year in the first eleven team was in 2019 and in nine matches he scored 189 and captured 13 wickets and won the School Best Fielder’s Award and his Prefect of Games and Coordinator were R.M.V.Rajanayake and Suranga Sampath respectively.

There were no matches in 2020 due to Coronavirus and in 2022 in the Limited Over Tournament in seven matches he collected 124 runs and took seven wickets. They played their Big Match versus Defence College Colombo and he claimed three scalps and scored 40 runs and won the Best Batsman and Man of the Match Awards and his Principal Kasun Gunaratne and Palian Dinesh Weerasinghe are very supportive in his cricket career. Last year he represented the Royal Kings Sports Club Piliyandala in the Division Three Daily News Trophy conducted by Colombo District Cricket Association.
