Mango sold for Rs. 162,000 at Kovil auction
A mango was sold for Rs.162,000 in a temple auction held at Ukkulankulama Pillaiar Kovil in Vavuniya.
This mango was put up for auction by a woman who resides in the Ukkulankulam area.
The temple governing council had held this auction with the aim of obtaining the necessary financial allocations for the development of the kovil.
These auctions are held annually in the kovils of the Northern Province and it is reported that villagers from foreign countries often spend lot of money in the kovil development activities.
Recently, in another Kovil in this same area, a mango was auctioned for Rs. 95,000.
