Netball player, under 13, 15 and 16 School Captain, member of the under 16 National Schools Champion Team, Captain of the 2018 Milo Trophy Champion Team, Member of the under 20 All Island Milo 2022 Tournament and 2020 Best Netball Player,, under 9 and 13 School Athletic Champion, and 2020 Best Athlete, Liyanarachchilage Manoda Ranasinghe has brought honour and immense glory to her alma mater Holy Family Convent Kurunegala with her deeds in the field of sports.
Manoda who hails from Bakmeegolla, Ibbagamuwa was born on January 03 2004 and admitted to Holy Family Convent in 2009 when Rev. Sister Shriyani Rodrigo was at the helm of the school and her first class teacher was Mrs. Kanchana.
Manoda was the under 9 and 13 School Athletic Champion and her events were 75, 100 and 200 metres and Long Jump and in 2020 too she was the under 17 Champion and in the Divisional, Zonal, District and Provincial Meets she won places and represented her school at the John Tarbet Junior Meet 2015 held in Anuradhapura and she came third in 80 metres and in addition she participated in Basket ball Tournaments
Though Manoda did well in athletics her Parents L.A.Ranasinghe and R.A.Karunawathie had other ideas and she was handed over to School Netball Coaches Amalka Gunatilleke, Ananda Wannithilleke and her first attempt was to participate at the Nethamath Netball Tournament organized by the school and she was appointed as the Captain and her team was victorious by leading the grade six team and in the following year too she captained the team. After that they participated in the under 13 Divisional, Zonal, District and Provincial Tournaments and became Champions in all these formats and at the 2015 Milo Tournament they were in the Best Sixteen and she led the team and in the following year too going through the initial process they came up to Super Eight in the Milo Tournament and she Captained the team and in the under 16 tournament leading the team they were the All Island Champions and she created a treble by captaining the under 13, 15 and 16 teams continuously and in 2018 too they were the Sri Lanka National School Champions. As an reward the school gave them a tour to Malaysia and they participated Testabola Tournament and it was a fine exposure for their players. After returning to the Island they were the under 16 All Island under 16 Champions and at the Milo Tournament they were the Runners up. In 2020 they had to keep away due to Coronavirus and in 2021 they participated in the Youth Sports Festival Open Netball Tournament and emerged Champions and participating at the Open Tournament and her final attempt was the All Island under 20 Milo Tournament 2022 and her team emerged champions by beating formidable Musaeas College and her sister Manoji Ranasinghe a former Sri Lanka national Player and her brother Manoj Ranasinghe who too a Table Tennis Player are helping Manoda immensely and for their success the Principal Rev. Sister Priyangani Perera, and Old Girls lend a big hand
