Manula Kularatne to lead Trinity
Two of the talented cricketers of Trinity College, who are Lion winners in the last season Manula Kularatne and Dinusha Peiris have been named as the captain and Vice captain for the 2023-2024 season. Trinity College on Wednesday under the new captain played their inter School first match against St. Benedicts College at Kotehena in the under 19 limited over tournament which ended in a no decision, And the next game is on 6thSeptember at Asgiriya Stadium against Mari Stella College Negombo.
This captain of the side Manula Kularatne played for the senior side for three years from 2021 to 2023. He led the Under 17 Central Province Super Provincial Team (2022), represented the Under 19 Centra l Province Super Provincial Team (2022/23) and also played for the Sri Lanka under19 team on the tour of UAE for the Tri Nation Series. He won the Best Bowlers award at Mahela – Sanga Challenge Trophy in 2022 and was Awarded Man of the Match at the 40th Battle of the Blues One Day Encounter 2022 and was awarded the coveted Lion.
The Vice-Captain Dinusha Peiris, played for the first XI for two years (2022/23).played for Under 19 Central Province Super Provincial Team (2023) . He won the Best Fielders award for Under 17 in 2021, and the Gamini Dissanayake Memorial Shield 2023. He won the Lion in 2023. Last season he took over thirty wickets and scored nearly nine hundred runs.
Last season Trinity College cricketers under the leader ship of Rahal Amarasinghe a fine left hand opening batsman and the Vice Captain Vibawith Ehelepola a left hand bat and a righ tarm pace bowler.played brilliantly to win the Championship of the under 19 inter schools limited over’Division one tournament Tier “A”. They also performed well to emerge champions of the Kandy school Premier League (KSPL) tournament where eight schools took part. In the final Trinity College beat St. Sylvester’s College,by seven wickets.
