“Many leading political parties endorse Govt’s reform program”

Subsequent to the economic crises in the country many leading political parties have endorsed most of the reforms that are being implemented by the government, said Chairman of Ceylon Chamber of Commerce Duminda Hulangamuwa.

Speaking at a special reception hosted by the Chamber he said he met most of the senior political leaders from SJB, JVP, NPP and other parties who understood the importance of reforms. Several young political and think tanks also agree on this agenda.

He also recalled that due to lavish Sri Lanka consumption patterns Sri Lanka spent nearly USD 82 billion for imports in recent years. “We should look at changing this lifestyle too. If we follow this path again Sri Lanka will once again fall in the same economic recession having worse consequences.”

Hulangamuwa recalled that the Chambers too were tested during the economic crisis and they are pleased to observe the current successful recovery process.

He said that all should assist the government towards creating a better economy and should look at things in a more positive manner. (SS)
