Matale St. Thomas’ and Science College old cricketers to play after 34 years
Two Matale Schools St Thomas College and Science College old cricketers once again will meet today (28) after 34 years when St Thomas Matale 1989 cricket team led by Ravi Punchihewa will meet Science College team led by Chaminda Atapattu in their T- 25 Cricket encounter at St Thomas Matale College cricket grounds.
This is going to be historic occasion for both schools as 1989 St Thomas team in action with 1989 Science College cricket team after 34 years.
1989 St Thomas team led by Ravi Punchihewa who is a present SLC match referee and head of Matale Windies Cricket Academy won the big match over Science College in 1989.
St Thomas Skipper Ravi Punchihewa together with his same 1989 big match winning team members Aruna Mahinda, Manoj Jayasena, Kaushalya Nawaratne, Himashantha Jayasundara, Sajeewa Gamage, Sidath Tennakoon, Anura Bandara, Lalith Kadawathagedera, Ruwan Wellassa, Wajira Liyanage, Sujeewa Godaliyadda the present Sri Lanka Cricket Treasure and Ravi Dissanayake will represent Thomian side.
1989 St Thomas Matale cricket master in charge Charaka Udupihilla will graced this occasion as the chief guests while after this friendly game there will be a match presentation and old boys get together will be held on Swiss Dale Hotel Matale.
Early this month St Thomas Matale present cricket team played with Science College team in their 23rd Battle of the Gold after laps of 7 years at Police grounds Kandy and Thomians won by 7 wickets.
