Matara City well set to win Champions League

The unbeaten table leaders Matara City SC are well on course to winning the Football Sri Lanka (FSL) organised 2022 Champions League Tournament, which concludes on September 15.

After three months of competition, City SC are well ahead in the points table with a total of 31 points with the completion of 11 rounds of this 13-team tournament.

The last two rounds of matches of this tournament will be worked off during the coming weeks and City SC need only one more victory to seal the title in their favour.

City SC are set to play against Java Lane SC and Crystal Palace SC next week having already recorded a total of 10 victories in addition to a drawn encounter.

Meanwhile, Java Lane SC are currently placed second in the Champions League points table having collected a total of 26 points from their 11 matches having won eight, lost one and drawn two games.

In the matches played on Sunday, Moragasmulla SC beat Negombo Youth SC 2-1, Saunders SC edged out Police SC 3-2 while Serendib SC and Crystal Palace SC drew 2-2.
