Measures to lift more out of worst poverty, uplift public service

Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof assumed duties yesterday at the Western Province Governor’s office.

Speaking to the officials after assuming duties, the Governor said that the President has appointed him with one clear objective.

“President told me that there should be no upper limit to wealth. But we cannot let the poor people of this country go down. We should take all possible measures to lift more and more people out of the worst poverty. Those words are very sensitive to me,” he said.

The Governor further stressed the importance of taking necessary measures to uplift the country’s public service in order to fulfill the expectations of the people of this country through a system change.

“This is not something that I can do alone. This is what you can do for us,” he told officials.  Hanif Yusoof, the founder of Expolanka Group and a prominent figure in Sri Lanka’s business sector, was appointed as the new Governor of the Western Province by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake on Wednesday (25) .
