Medicine prices increased due to dollar issue – MP Dr. Rajitha
Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Kalutara District MP Dr. Rajitha Senaratne told Parliament yesterday that the price
of medicines has increased by 97 percent due to the dollar issue.
The MP said that the Government will defeat the No-Confidence Motion against the Health Minister and thus the opinion of the people will not be represented in Parliament.
The MP stated this while joining the debate on the No-Confidence Motion on Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday (6).
MP Senaratne further said that the country is now experiencing a crisis situation. So we do not want to get political advantages through this No-Confidence Motion against the Health Minister. “More than seven million families are currently suffering from poverty in all the nine provinces and 33 percent of the total number of families have reduced the number of meals. School attendance has decreased by 6 percent. 32 percent make a living by selling property. We provide preventive healthcare. More than 90 percent of patients undergoing inpatient treatment at Government hospitals and due to poverty the number of patients receiving inpatient treatments from private hospitals have been reduced,”he said.
