Meteorological Department Issues Warnings due to Rising Temperature

According to an Advisory notice issued by the Department of Meteorology regarding the Heat index; the temperature felt on human body is expected to increase up to ‘Caution’ level at some places in Western, North-Western, Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces and Monaragala and Hambantota Districts. The Advisory which was issued yesterday evening (20 April) is applicable for today as well.

Following actions are recommended by the department,

Job sites: Stay hydrated and takes breaks in the shade as often as possible.

Indoors: Check up on the elderly and the sick.

Vehicles: Never leave children unattended.

Outdoors: Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated.

Dress: Wear lightweight and white or light-coloured clothing.
