Methodist High School Moratuwa champions

Kavin Fernando hit superb knock of 141 as Methodist High School Moratuwa emerged champions of the Under 19 Division Three Tier ‘A’ Inter Schools Limited Overs Cricket tournament at General Lionel Balagalla ground (Gunners ground) Minneriya last Saturday.

Methodist High School Moratuwa beat last year runner up Jaffna Central College by 6 wickets in the final.

Jaffna Central College bowled out for 250 runs in 49.1 overs. The opener Jayatheeswaran Vithusan scored 86 runs in 131 balls with 9 boundaries. Matheeswaran Sanjayan (31), Vinajakaselvam Kavitharsan (24*), Ananthan Kajan (22) and S. Sarangan (16) hit useful knocks. Sihina Fernando claimed 3 for 48 runs.

Methodist High School, Moratuwa scored 251 runs for 4 wickets in 47.3 overs. Right hand opener Kavin Fernando scored 141 runs in 123 balls with 14 boundaries and 6 sixes. Thisara Jayanga (43), Sihina Fernando (17*) and Sandun Tharanga (14*) helped to build their innings.
