The Community Development Society (CDS) in collaboration with All Ceylon YMMA Conference organised a Media Sensitization on Migrant Workers Health Rights workshop for media personnel held in Colombo recently.
Lecturers from National STD and AIDS Control Programme (NSACP) Director Dr. Janaki Vidanapathirana, Colombo Plus President S. P. I. Niroshan, CDS Januka Tillakarathne, CDS Executive Director Andrew Samuel, M. F. M. Arshad Secretary ALFEA and Dr. Kanthi Abeyrathna, Executive Secretary Country Coordination Mechanism (CCM) Secretariat and N. M. Nifraz Coordinator YMMA addressed the gathering about HIV/AIDS disease in Sri Lanka and Abroad. Also explained HIV effective male and female migrant workers and how they secure from HIV.
The lecturers brief about the various violations by GAMCA medical centres and what policies and programmes the Government should undertake.
