Minister pledges to fulfil health sector aspirations
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya assumed duties as the Health Minister at the Health Ministry on Tuesday (24). Dr. Amarasuriya was sworn in as Sri Lanka’s 16th Prime Minister by newly-elected President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
After assuming duties as the new Health Minister, Dr Harini pledged to fulfill the wishes of both patients as well as the health workforce of the country as per the policies of the new Government.
Apart from the Health Ministry, Dr Harini is also overseeing the Justice, Public Administration, Provincial Councils, Local Government, Labour, Education, Science and Technology, Women, Child and Youth Affairs, Sports, Trade, Commerce, Food Security, Cooperative Development, Industries and Entrepreneur Development Ministries.
Meanwhile, former Health Secretary Dr. Palitha Mahipala also assumed duties as new Secretary to the Health Ministry at the Ministry on Tuesday.
